Diseworth on the BBC.

Tony Roe from BBC East Midlands Today came to Diseworth to cover our latest Village Meeting to update residents on our plans to object to a forthcoming planning application as part of the East Midlands Freeport development.

BBC Local stations have always had an interest in environmental issues in their areas and Tony was able to hear the views firsthand of local residents, as well as Cllr Nick Rushton, the Leader of Leicestershire County Council. Cllr Rushton has provided written support which you can find published in full on this website, but his key message is:

“As an elected representative of the villagers of Diseworth, I give them my support in their opposition to planned development by SEGRO over 250 acres of agricultural land immediately next door to their village”

In his comments in the meeting, Cllr Rushton coined the phrase “protecting the green lung that surrounds Diseworth”

which perfectly sums up the nature of our fight.
